Last week, Lemoore’s varsity girls’ soccer team dropped its West Yosemite League opener in Tiger Stadium 1-0 to Redwood High School, despite an impressive goalkeeping effort from goalie Finess Tafolla.
According to Tiger Coach Janet Brown, Lemoore had its chances, but just couldn’t break through and ended up giving up a second-half goal to the Rangers to account for the final score. “We had our chances in the first half, but unfortunately the ball wouldn’t go in,” said Brown.
Perhaps the closed Lemoore came to a score was when Mari Avalos appeared to have a goal but was denied by the Ranger goalkeeper.
“Finess Tafolla made some amazing saves,” said Brown who credited the goalkeeper with keeping the scoring down.
Brown also said that Michaela Ramirez played well at center back while Keelynn Kaalekahi had several chances to score and made some strong passes as well. “Overall I was very pleased with the girls playing so hard.”
