All manner of waste has been left at the city's e-waste disposal site, prompting city officials to consider closing the site.

Lemoore City officials may have to take steps to curb residents’ use of the e-waste and cardboard containers located at 711 Cinnamon Drive, also known as the Cinnamon Recreation Complex. According to city officials, local residents have recently been using the site as a dumping ground for all sorts of waste.

The site was originally meant to be used for the disposal of such things as computers, hard drives and cardboard. There are separate containers at the site for both kinds of items.

Instead, according to Parks and Recreation Director Joe Simonson, all manner of items have been left at the site and scattered throughout the area forcing the department to utilize up to four full-time refuse workers to clean up the site.

“Folks are using this as a city dump,” said Simonson indicating that he may have to lock the gate or increase public awareness of the problem.
