A horrific showing against Bullard High School in the opening round of the Clovis Elks Tournament took Lemoore’s varsity boys’ basketball team out of the running for the tourney title. Despite the surprising 103-74 loss to the Knights on Dec. 26, Lemoore easily won its next three games to finished 7th in the massive tournament, completing the week with a 70-57 win over Madera.

As it is, Bullard, the team Lemoore, finished third in the tourney, losing 61-60 to Clovis High School. Roosevelt High beat Memorial High School 66-57 for the tournament championship on Wednesday night at Clovis High School.

After falling to Bullard, the Tigers beat Sanger 74-43 and Clovis East 78-65 before taking on Madera in the final game of the tournament. Lemoore improved to 10-2 overall and are currently 1-0 in West Yosemite League play.

The Tigers next game is against Clovis North, to be held in the LHS Event Center on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. They return to WYL play on Thursday, Jan. 7 with a game at Redwood High School.
