On Monday at approximately 3:20 p.m., A Lemoore Police Department traffic officer was conducting speed enforcement on South Lemoore Ave when he noticed a white GMC Yukon traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle based on the violation.
The driver was identified as Jonathan Jeff Smith. There was an underage male in the front passenger seat of the vehicle.
The officer conducted a search of the vehicle and located a 9mm handgun hidden between the front passenger and the front driver's seat. The juvenile passenger was also in possession of a .380 caliber handgun that he had concealed. Additional ammunition was located inside of the vehicle.
Smith, 18, was placed under arrest for carrying a concealed handgun inside of a vehicle, carrying a concealed loaded firearm inside of the vehicle, for allowing someone to carry a loaded firearm inside of his vehicle, and for driving without a license.
The male juvenile was arrested and booked at the Kings County Juvenile Detention Center for carrying a concealed handgun, being a minor in possession of ammunition, being a minor in possession of a concealable handgun, and carrying a loaded firearm.
