“We want our volunteers to experience how hospital staff from various departments work together to address a real life emergency,” says Tanya Hutchison, Director of Volunteer Resources for Adventist Health / Central Valley Network.
“This is hands-on training, so students will work closely with the Hanford Fire Department and hospital employees in setting up decontamination showers and tents and coordinating with the media.”
The mock drill will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. Hospital staff and patients will be alerted of the drill in advance. Students will then receive extra education from 2-4:30 p.m.
