The local Lions Club welcomed West Hills College Lemoore President Kristin Clark who proudly accepted a final installment check for $5,000, the final payment for a $25,000 endowment the Lions Club established for ongoing scholarships the club established four years ago.
Clark was a big winner Monday night – at least from the college’s point of view. She also accepted over $2,000 worth of scholarships for at least four college students, two of which will go to two students from Lemoore High School who intend to enroll at the local community college, and two more scholarships for students at WHC who plan to attend a four-year college or university.
The Lemoore Lions also presented Lemoore Police Department Community Service Officer Soledad Perez a $250 donation for the department’s annual “Reason for the Season” program.
Finally, the club presented Lemoore Police Department Chaplain John Ecker fifty $20 gift cards to use at Best Buy Market in Lemoore for the Lemoore Police Department’s Presents on Patrol program.
In all, the local Lemoore Lions Club donated a total of $8,250 back into the community Monday night.
