Lemoore fell to 4-5-1 in the West Yosemite League following the pair of losses. The Tigers are 8-9-1 overall. Redwood leads the league race with a 10-1 record while Hanford has sole control of second place.
Lemoore will host Golden West tomorrow (Feb. 2) in Tiger Stadium at 6 p.m.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t play our best that night (against Hanford),” said Tiger Coach Janet Brown. “Roxana (Ortiz) scored a heading goal in the last two minutes of the game. Deziree Jimmeye, our goalkeeper, did have an outstanding game,” said Brown.
Brown said that Jimmeye made a pair of exceptional saves, denying one goal by coming out of the box and another save by punching the ball up and out following a free kick.
Against El Diamante, the Tigers held the Miners scoreless until the final minutes of the game when El Diamante finally scored. Brown said the Tigers dominated most of the match and played beautiful passing soccer, but just couldn’t seem to find the net.
“The whole team played with a great deal of heart, but this season, our hard work, our possession play, are not paying off,” lamented Brown.
