Isquierdo was recognized for his work in his hometown community of London where he was instrumental in establishing the small rural unincorporated community's first ever library.
He was nominated for the award by his former Sierra Pacific principal and current Mission Oaks principal Michele Borges. Isquierdo continues his community work and is currently working to establish a medical clinic in London.
Isquierdo is also one of the founders of Reestablishing Stratford, a non-profit organization that hopes to bring positive change to the small Kings County community. The goal is to break the cycle of negative activities associated with the rural town by offering positive alternative activities and services that inspire hope.
The project was the started by Stratford residents Isquierdo and Ramon Chavez, both of whom see a bright future for their tiny community.
