As the holiday season fast approaches, efforts for the 9th Annual Community Christmas dinner are in full swing, say organizers of this year’s event. United, a community organization, is working with churches, businesses and community members to make this year’s Community Christmas dinner possible.

The pickup, delivery and sit-down portion of the Christmas dinner will be held at the Lemoore Recreation Center on December 9th.

For questions about the dinner, or how to participate or donate, email United.AllPeopleMatter@gmail.com or call Thomas Curtiss at 559-309-9859.

Last year, over 1,600 meals and 700-plus presents were distributed to families and children throughout Kings County. Families in need were given a “Christmas Experience” that everyone deserves.

This year’s Christmas experience will include a catered dinner, gifts for each child, local entertainment, a family picture taken by local professional photographers and raffle prizes. This event focuses on underprivileged families, local seniors and the medically impaired.

West Hills Culinary staff, alongside with David Valenzuela from Toshiko’s, and other local chefs will once again be catering these delicious meals.

An event of this magnitude takes a collective effort from the community. Hundreds of volunteers are needed and encouraged to join this great cause and see, firsthand, how one day can have on an entire community.

The best way to give and participate would be to donate monetarily, purchase presents (unwrapped) and lastly volunteer. Organizers ask that the children’s gifts stay around $15-$20 in value to ensure equality and checks be payable to “South Valley Community Church.”

This event is funded 100 percent by donations, and all proceeds go to the children and families in the local community. Financially, the goal is to raise $30,000 to cover all costs. Your tax-deductible donation of any amount is how this event is made possible. Please take this opportunity and unite with others in our community to help provide a memorable Christmas to those in need.

We wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and excellent holiday season. To View the 2014 & 2013 Christmas Dinner videos, please visit:
