Lemoore’s boys’ basketball team broke through Thursday night with a scary 68-64 victory at El Diamante High School. The Tigers improved to 2-2 in the West Yosemite League and are preparing for a weekend showdown at the Edison Showdown where they were scheduled to open with Kingsburg High.

The Tiger boys improved to 8-8 overall. Their next league action is a home game against Golden West on Jan. 17 following by a trip to Hanford on Friday, Jan. 19 to conclude WYL first-round action.

Earlier in the week, the Tigers dropped a disappointing 61-49 decision to Mt. Whitney despite their attempt to erase a big first-half deficit.

The Lady Tigers fell behind early and never recovered, losing a home contest to the Miners, 57-37 and falling to 2-2 in the WYL.

Lemoore fell behind early 18-10 in the first period before giving up another 15 in the second period, trailing at the half 33-22. In the second half, the Tigers scoring effort fell flat, scoring just 15 points.

It was a different story earlier in the week when the Lady Tigers edged Mt. Whitney 62-59 in Visalia. Lemoore held a 30-25 lead at the half and held on for the second half win.

Lemoore’s girls will face Golden West High School in a Jan. 17 game in Visalia.
