The Kings County Sheriff's Office was notified by a plethora of local physicians that a person calling himself Chief Putnam, and associated with the department, wanted to speak to them about a medical administrative issue.

A return telephone number was listed as 554-2369, extension 4.

This is a scam, so says Kings law enforcement officials warning community members about the issue. Deputies urged residents not to contact the number, and not to reveal any medical information to the person who answers.

The department is fully aware of the situation and has it currently under investigation. Contact Detective Machado only if you have given your personal information to the caller from the above number.
