Since the introduction of improved food packages better aligned with current dietary guidance, WIC participants are purchasing and consuming more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy. The WIC program benefits local farmers, grocers, and health care systems, too.
Kings County residents may qualify if they:
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or just had a baby, or:
- Have a child under the age 5; and
- Have a low to medium income; and
- Live in California
Newly pregnant women, migrant workers, and working families are encouraged to apply.

- Referrals to medical providers and community services
