The Lady Golden Eagles are 1-1 overall in West Hills College Lemoore’s inaugural women’s volleyball season. The Golden Eagles, under new coach Kelly Wigton, won their opener Wednesday, August 29 against San Jose before losing in three sets to visiting Porterville Wednesday night (Sept. 12) in the opening salvo of the Central Valley Conference.

Porterville easily got past West Hills 25-19, 25-15, 25-16. The Golden Eagles travel to Merced College for a Friday matchup before returning home on Wednesday, Sept. 19 for a matchup with fellow district opponent West Hills Coalinga.

The match is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Golden Eagle Arena.

Wigton has a roster of 15 athletes from schools scattered throughout the Central Valley, including Lemoore’s Cynthia Verdugo and Hanford’s Crystal Martinez.
