The annual dinner and awards banquet is Friday, January 18, 2019, at the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino. Ewing will be joined by the 2019 Lemoore “Business of the Year,” and “Organization of the Year.”
Lemoore restaurateur Sunny Law, and his wife Fannie, own Sushi Table, a popular Japanese restaurant in Lemoore, tabbed this year as “Business of the Year.” Lemoore’s FFA Guide Dog Puppy Raising Project was named the 2019 “Organization of the Year.”

An additional award was added last year, honoring someone from the public safety sector whose positive influence has made an impact on the community. The Chamber Board of Directors selected Lemoore Volunteer Fire Department’s Abimael Shiyomura for his contributions as a Lemoore Volunteer Firefighter.
Ewing, a popular doctor with strong roots in Lemoore, has served as chief of staff for the Consolidated Medical Staff at Adventist Health / Central Valley Network.
Ewing is responsible for enforcing the medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures and promoting quality of care, among other duties.
Dr. Ewing has been a physician with Adventist Health for over 30 years. He began in 1984, caring for patients in Lemoore – many of whom knew Dr. Ewing from his private practice and his volunteer service in youth sports.
Dr. Ewing has served as a youth coach for softball, basketball, volleyball, and baseball, and was a sideline physician for Pop Warner Football, Riverdale High School football and Lemoore High School football. He has served as assistant coach for various sports at Lemoore High School, including girls’ basketball and boys’ baseball, and is currently the assistant coach for girls’ softball.
Ewing, in recognition of his longtime service at Lemoore High School, was recently inducted into the school’s Foundation Hall of Fame as a special “Friend of Lemoore.”
Dr. Ewing was born and raised in Mississippi with seven siblings.
He completed his undergraduate degree in biology and pre-med from Jackson State University in Jackson, Miss. While enrolled at Jackson State, he participated in student exchange programs, spending either summers or semesters at the State University of New York and Harvard.
He earned his medical degree from the University of California at San Diego. From there, he completed internships and residency training at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in New Orleans.
Dr. Ewing served ten years in the U.S. Navy at Naval Air Station Lemoore. He was a Naval Flight Surgeon, Chief of Emergency Medicine and Chief of Aviation Medicine and served one tour of duty on the U.S.S. Ranger in the Western Pacific. His last rank was that of commander.
Following his years of service, Dr. Ewing opened a private family practice in Lemoore. He then joined Adventist Health Physicians Network.
Dr. Ewing is married to Janice Ewing, a retired Lemoore High School Special Education teacher. The couple has two children; Dionne, Lemoore High School class of 1988, who is a practice administrator for Adventist Health; and Christopher, Lemoore High School class of 1994, a pharmaceutical representative for Takeda Pharmaceuticals. He also has two grandchildren, Devin and Kya.
Lemoore High School’s Guide Dog Puppy Raisers, a popular program on the school’s campus since 1989, keeps on giving. Over the years, hundreds of prospective guide dogs have graduated – trained by local students – and then gone on to bring guidance, joy, and above all, service, to the visually impaired. Law's Sushi Table recently celebrated its fifth year in business in Lemoore. He and his wife also own downtown Lemoore's Boba Island and the year-old 201 Kitchen located in Hanford's Costco Shopping Center.
Tickets for January’s banquet go on sale Dec. 3. Reservations must be made ahead of time by calling the Lemoore chamber at 559-924-6401. Paid reservations received by January 4 are $55 per person, or a table for ten is $500. Reservations made after January 5 will be $65 per person. No tickets will be available at the door.
Socializing and a silent auction begin at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m.
