It was a good week for the Lemoore High School boys’ basketball team and a disappointing one for the girls’ varsity hoopsters who continue to struggle as they get deeper into the West Yosemite League campaign. The Tiger boys edged visiting El Diamante 53-51 in the Tigers’ Event Center Wednesday night.

While only two games into league play, Lemoore’s boys are riding high, sporting a 2-0 record as they hit the road tomorrow for a Friday matchup at Golden West High School. Lemoore is 11-4 overall and would appear to have the advantage over the Trailblazers who will come into the game winless in the WYL and are 7-12 overall.

The Tigers hit the road again Tuesday with a game at Mt. Whitney.

The Lemoore ladies are hoping to rebound from a Wednesday 63-53 loss to the Miners in Visalia. El Diamante took the early lead 15-10 in the opening quarter, but the Tigers bounced back, outscoring El Diamante 18-11 to take a 28-26 lead into the half.

But the Miners poured it on in the second half outscoring Lemoore 37-25.

The Lemoore girls are home Friday night against Golden West and again Tuesday against Mt. Whitney.

Soccer

The Lemoore girls’ soccer team is 4-5-1 overall and 0-1 in the WYL. The Lady Tigers are slated to play Golden West on Friday in Visalia and then host Hanford on Jan. 17.

The boys’ soccer team is 1-1 in the WYL and 7-4-2 overall as they have a home game Friday against Golden West. The Tigers are coming off a disappointing 3-1 loss to El Diamante Wednesday night in Visalia.

Wrestling

On Tuesday, Lemoore’s varsity wrestlers won their second WYL match in a row with a convincing 62-15 decision over El Diamante. The varsity girls easily got past the Miners 36-0 while the junior varsity had a bit of a struggle, but still managed to win 30-18.

The Lemoore girls’ team is scheduled to compete in Sanger Friday, Jan. 11 while Lemoore’s varsity boys are headed for the Five Counties Varsity Wrestling Tournament in Fountain Valley.
