From West Hills College

West Hills College Lemoore is now one of six community colleges in the Achieving the Dream network to be named a leader college. Leader college status is a designation awarded to Achieving the Dream institutions that have shown progress in improving the success of all community college students.

Achieving the Dream is a targeted reform movement geared toward student success. A network of higher education institutions, partners, and advisors, it is focused on helping students achieve their academic dreams.

“We are honored and grateful to receive this prestigious award from Achieving the Dream (ATD),” said Dr. Kristin Clark, West Hills College Lemoore President. “It is nice to be recognized as a leader in the implementation of measurable student success initiatives. West Hills College Lemoore (WHCL) is committed to our North Star—student learning and achievement, and participating in the ATD Network has helped us build capacity for our work. On behalf of WHCL, I thank the ATD Network for this wonderful acknowledgment of our work. We look forward to the opportunities this honor brings as we continue our relentless pursuit of student success.”

To receive ATD Leader College status, colleges much demonstrate three years of steady improvement in two designated measures of student success and provide evidence that equity gaps narrowed on at least one measure.

As a Leader College, WHCL can now compete for all grant-funding learning initiatives and are expected to provide support and leadership to other schools in the ATD network. WHCL will also share what it has learned as an ATD school and what has worked for them.

WHCL has been involved with ATD since 2014.
