Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) Senior Cadet William Wilkins, a four-year member of the Lemoore NJROTC Marksmanship team, just placed 16th out of the top 200 Navy JROTC shooters last week in Alabama where he competed against the top Navy shooters in the country.

It’s back to Alabama next month to compete against all of the Air Force, Army, Marine, and Navy JROTC shooters in the United States.

Earlier this year he won the Area-11 NJROTC championships to earn a trip to Alabama Feb. 7-9. The Area-11 championships involved 54 JROTC units.

To qualify to compete in Alabama Wilkins shot a 94.5% average in the prone position, an 84.5% average in the standing or offhand position, and a 91.5% average in the kneeling position, totaling 540 out of 600 possible points. : 

William’s plans after graduating from Lemoore High School this summer is to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
