Christmas came a little early to the Lemoore High School Future Farmers of America program as it celebrates a local community grant courtesy of Leprino’s Community Grant program.

The $40,000 grant, awarded just last week, will be used to finalize the construction of the program’s existing hog barn. Leprino’s award will double the size of the facility.

Lemoore High School Ag Department Chairman Howard Clarke told The Leader that the school applied for the grant last year to expand the school’s swine breeding projects.

“Because of the $40,000 Leprino grant, we can now provide more opportunities for our students related to animal agriculture. We eventually want to get into swine breeding projects,” said Clarke.

He added that this timely award “will directly affect the vision of our department” and bring more opportunities for local students to learn using vigorous science standards.

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for this wonderful company’s support for our program,” added Clarke. “Our staff and students are extremely appreciative.”
