Home cooking wasn’t good enough Thursday night as Lemoore’s boys’ basketball team, and the girls’ soccer team, failed to keep pace in their respective league races. The Lady Tigers fell 8-1 against visiting Redwood to remain winless on the year as they prepare for the final five WYL games.

The Lady Tigers are 0-5 in WYL action.

Just a short distance away, Lemoore’s varsity boys’ basketball team fell to 2-2 in the WYL with its disappointing 45-41 loss to the visiting Mt. Whitney Pioneers. The Tigers are 6-15 overall as they prepare for a Wednesday, Jan. 29 visit to the 3-1 Hanford Bullpups.

The Lady Tiger hoopsters had a much different outcome in Visalia as they crushed Mt. Whitney 62-19 to improve to 4-0 in league play. The ladies host Hanford on Wednesday, Jan. 29 to end the league’s first round.

The Lady Tigers have been on a roll, beginning with a 57-50 victory over Redwood in the WYL opener and following up with three straight league victories to hold on to the league’s top spot.

Finally, Lemoore’s varsity boys’ soccer team persevered through four overtime periods and had to settle for a 3-3 tie at Redwood High School. Lemoore’s boys host El Diamante on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The Tigers are 3-1-2 heading into the final four games.
