During the struggle, the suspect, Cesar, tried to reach into his waistband area several times. Once Cesar was finally taken into custody, investigators discovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun. Cesar was arrested for a variety of felony charges, including being a gang member in possession of a firearm and resisting arrest.
The vehicle fled the scene and was later recovered abandoned.
The next day, investigators located and identified the driver, Gilbert Navarro. He was arrested and booked into the Kings County Jail on several felony charges, including suspicion of felony evading and a parole violation. Both suspects are being held without bail in the Kings County Jail.
