A former Lemoore High School football and baseball standout continues to impress the college ranks with his diamond skills. The PacWest Conference released its’ weekly list of baseball awards on Monday afternoon, with Fresno Pacific’s Jack Foote picking up his second Freshman of the Week selection.

Following FPU’s split with Concordia last weekend, the Lemoore native is hitting .329 so far this season and has swiped six bags in seven attempts.

“Jack has hit his stride to win two of these awards in the last three weeks, and he’s become a big part of our offense,” head coach Oscar Hirschkorn said. “I expect that he will maintain the comfort and consistency he has developed at the plate, and I look forward to watching him contribute as the year goes on.”

Foote went 5-for-8 with two runs and a pair of RBI in four games last week for the Sunbirds as they split the second and third games against Concordia. In the second game of the series, Foote went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles before going 3-for-4 and drove in two runs.

The Sunbirds will have their biggest test of the season this weekend, as they head south to take on three-time defending league champion Azusa Pacific. First pitch for Thursday’s series opener is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
