The incident occurred on Monday, April 27, at about 1:40 p.m. when Kings County deputies responded to what became an assault investigation.
A passerby called 911 informing dispatch that there were two vehicles – a 2004 Cadillac Escalade and a 2000 Audi A4 – racing at over 100 miles per hour southbound on 10th Avenue from Cameron Street.
The vehicles continued eastbound on Fifth Street, where the driver of the Cadillac, later identified as suspect Lee Bellamy, intentionally rammed his car into the Audi, which had come to a stop at the intersection.
During the course of the investigation, detectives determined Bellamy had three children under the age of three in the vehicle with him at the time he rammed his vehicle into the Audi.
Deputies arrested Bellamy and booked him into the Kings County Jail for PC 245(a)(1), Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and PC 273a(a), Child Endangerment. Bellamy's bail was set at $75,000.00.
