The deputy conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Jorge Osorio.
The deputy discovered that the suspect, Osorio, was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) out of Tulare County and was subject to search.
Before the search, the suspect, Osorio, informed the deputy that any illegal items in the vehicle belonged to him. During the deputy’s search, he discovered an AR-15 rifled in the backseat. There was no serial number, and it had a 23-round high-capacity magazine.
The deputy also discovered 1.44 ounces of methamphetamine next to the rifle and a used glass smoking pipe in the front seat.
The officer arrested Osorio and later determined that the suspect had prior felony convictions for firearms violations. Osorio was booked into Kings County Jail on eight new criminal charges, five of them felonies. Bail was set at $135,000.
