While en route to the scene, deputies said that the vehicle had crashed into a residence.  Law enforcement officials arrived on the scene and learned that the driver ran from the vehicle.

Deputies learned that the suspect appeared to be nearby, on Cedar Street.

Deputies arrived at Cedar Street where a witness pointed them to the front yard on Cedar Street.  The residence was surrounded by a six-foot locked chain-link fence and inside deputies spotted a male on the front porch of the residence.  The male appeared to be frantically attempting to open the home’s front security screen door.  Deputies could hear a female yelling from inside the residence.

Deputies ordered the male suspect to come towards them, but he refused, instead continued his attempted to enter the house.  a pair of deputies jumped the chain link fence to contact the male and prevent him from entering the residence.

Upon jumping the fence, one deputy sustained a minor leg injury, and another pinched his finger between the chain-link fencing and the metal support pole, causing injury.

Despite the injuries, they prevented the suspect from entering the residence.  Assisting deputies were able to force a gate open and assist in taking the subject into custody.

Deputies identified the suspect as 51-year-old David Silva of Armona. Deputies turned Silva over to the California Highway Patrol where he was arrested for driving under the influence, hit and run, and resisting or obstructing an officer.
