West Hills College Lemoore’s Alejandra Fernandez this week was named California’s Central Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete. Fernandez is a Corcoran High School graduate. Fernandez will advance for consideration as the State Scholar-Athlete Recipient. The talented WHCL student is talented on and off the court. She recently earned an Associates of Arts Degree in Administrative Justice and an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts-Social Science.

She is currently attending Hawaii Pacific University on a basketball scholarship. After graduation, she plans to obtain her master’s degree in criminal justice and pursue a career in law enforcement.

"We are all incredibly proud of Alejandra earning this recognition. Her hard work and determination created many opportunities, academically, and athletically. It is always rewarding to see our students reach their goals,” said Andrea Picchi, West Hills College’s associate dean of athletics and kinesiology.  “Alejandra is a great representation of the student-athletes here at West Hills College Lemoore."

Others praised her athletic and academic skills. “Alejandra gave it her all both in the classroom and on the court.  I loved watching her play.  I was impressed with her athleticism, her sense of maturity, and her sheer determination,” said Kristin Clark, President at West Hills College Lemoore.  “We are so very proud of her and her accomplishments.”
