Normally, all Kings County teachers, administrators, and employees are honored in a Kings County Office of Education event, but due to COVID-19, holding such a gathering is tenuous. Instead, Kings County officials expect to put together a video of the county’s nominees or a virtual event.
Thomas, a familiar and popular teacher in local educational circles, brings 28 years of service to education beginning her career in 1998 in the local elementary school district. In all, she’s served and taught at Engvall, Liberty Middle School and is currently a 7th-grade teacher at University Charter School.
Nominated by school officials, Thomas is a purposeful educator who her peers say makes a profound difference with every student, every day. Thomas provides an engaging learning environment in which her students boldly attempt and engage in their learning – without fear of failure.
Thomas, say her peers, focuses on purpose to ensure all students meet their greatest potential.
As the district’s nurse, Martin has served the Lemoore district for the past four years. She began her school nursing career in New Mexico, eventually making her way to Lemoore. She was hired in 2017 and began her journey in the local district.
Martin has been instrumental in leading the district’s student-centered Health Services Department.
Due to her incredible leadership and health expertise, she provides exemplary health services to students and has guided our district through the vaunting COVID-19 journey, and supported the LUESD efforts to keep schools open safely. She embraced the district’s mission, entitled “Each One,” and did everything in her power to help create the conditions where students and staff could safely return to school.
Martin has been an advocate with the Kings County Department of Public Health and has worked tirelessly to carry out the district’s reopening safety plan. “Stephanie has made an incredible difference for our students, families, staff, and our community,” stated district officials.
