The deputy contacted the suspect, Roy Gomez, and determined that he was on probation out of Tulare County for a fraud offense. Because he was a suspect, he was subject to search and seizure.

Gomez admitted prior to the search that he had a handgun in the driver’s side door storage area. The deputy searched the Silverado and located a black Rossi brand .38 caliber revolver loaded with three unspent rounds. The Deputy also found a smoking device used for ingesting Methamphetamines.

Gomez, thanks to a prior conviction was not allowed to keep a firearm or ammunition. The deputy arrested Gomez and transported to the Kings County Jail.

Jailors determined that Gomez was under influence of a controlled substance and suspected Methamphetamine. Jail staff located 4.4 grams of Methamphetamine located inside the suspect’s belly button.

Gomez was booked into jail on the charges of possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm inside a vehicle on a public street, possessing a firearm while under the influence of a controlled substance, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and bringing Methamphetamine inside an institution. His bail was set at $45,000.
