The deputy activated his emergency lights, causing the driver of the Camry, later identified as Richard Canada, initially to refuse to pull over. Canada drove to a residence located on Houston Avenue and abruptly pulled into the driveway.
As the suspect, Canada came to a stop, and he appeared to throw an object out of the driver’s side window.
As the deputy approached the suspect, he noticed drug paraphernalia in the driver’s side door. The deputy detained the suspect and searched the area for the object he had thrown from the car. The deputy located a clear plastic bag that contained over 15 grams of Methamphetamine.
The deputy determined that the suspect, Canada, was also under the influence of a controlled substance, presumably Methamphetamine.
The deputy arrested the suspect, Canada, and booked him into the Kings County Jail. Officials charged the suspect with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Bail for Canada was set at $50,000. He posted bail and was released.
