The Audi had been reported stolen out of Thornton California.
Deputies searched the Walmart parking lot and located the stolen Audi parked in a handicap stall just outside the store. Authorities contacted a suspect, Jason McLeod, in the driver’s seat of the Audi.
McLeod, 43, had been listed in the original police report as a potential suspect. He was arrested and the Audi was towed for storage after deputies conducted a search of the car.
During the search, a baton (billy club) was located next to where McLeod was sitting in the Audi. As the search continued, deputies located a black .22 caliber Savage Arms rifle. Deputies say that McLeod previously was convicted of felony domestic abuse, and he was not permitted to possess a firearm.
Deputies booked the suspect, McLeod, into the Kings County Jail on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, receiving stolen property, auto theft, and possession of a “billy club.” His bail was set at $80,000.
