Lemoore High School’s yearbook, the Nuntius, has been recognized for excellence and featured in the Jostens Look Book 2022, celebrating the best-of-the-best in yearbook design and inclusivity.

The Jostens Look Book is a collection of outstanding yearbooks with creative themes, fantastic covers, beautiful designs, relevant coverage of school events, meaningful storytelling, and stunning photography.

Along with design excellence, the annually published Look Book honors the work of the students who create the yearbook over the course of 6-12 months. Through it, they chronicle the experiences, stories, and achievements most relevant to students and that academic year.

Lemoore High students created last year’s Nuntius under the direction of Rachel Salgado, the former Lemoore High yearbook adviser. The Nuntius has been the local school’s yearbook since the school’s founding in 1901.

This year’s advisor is longtime LHS teacher Elizabeth Proctor. Recently, Proctor and this year’s staff received a copy of the Jostens Look Book 2022 with a plaque and banner from Jostens recognizing their outstanding achievement.

Nuntius was one of only 458 yearbooks selected from nearly one thousand yearbooks submitted. The 2022 panel of judges, comprised of nationally recognized scholastic journalism professionals and award-winning yearbook advisers, selected the best examples of yearbook spreads and covers to make up the 320-page Look Book 2022.

About Nuntius

According to historian and author William Black (Lemoore High School District’s former superintendent) in an article published by the Hanford Sentinel in 2005, originally, the name of the Lemoore High newspaper was Nuntius.  It is unclear when, but this name eventually became the name of the school’s yearbook.

(The Leader Editor’s note) As a Lemoore High School teacher many years ago, I served as the yearbook advisor for about five years. It was challenging and enjoyable, and the students and editors were all committed to the class.
