Lemoore High School grad, Miguel Guerrero, accepts district's superintendent's job following Debbie Muro's retirement

The Lemoore Union High School District School Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve the selection of Dr. Miguel Guerrero as the district’s next superintendent. Guerrero, a Lemoore High School alum, will officially begin working on July 1, 2022.

Superintendent Debbie Muro will be retiring on June 30, 2022, after leading our district for the past 12 years. She worked for a total of 24 years at Lemoore High School. She served as an assistant principal, assistant superintendent, and district superintendent.

The Board of Trustees made its decision with input from key educational partners in the district and community and support from the Kings County Office of Education. The Lemoore High School Board of Trustees focused on finding someone who happens to be a collaborative leader and familiar with the Lemoore community.

Following a rigorous screening and interview process, the Board is confident that Dr. Guerrero is an excellent choice for Lemoore.

Guerrero is an educator with a depth of experience working at all levels of public education. He was also a student at Lemoore High School. Guerrero is focused on continuing to build on the rich tradition of Lemoore High School and creating a vision that engages students, parents, staff, and community members.

"I believe that every day is an opportunity to prepare students for tomorrow by providing a relevant and engaging educational experience. I am honored and humbled to become a part of LUHSD. This is where my family went to high school. It will be my primary goal to sustain and build on all of the wonderful things already happening in a collaborative manner," said Dr. Guerrero.

Guerrero brings over 25 years of educational and administrative leadership experience to the role of superintendent for the Lemoore Union High School District. His professional experience includes serving as a superintendent, part-time adjunct professor, Director of Categorial Programs, and middle and high school principal. Dr. Guerrero is a graduate of Stratford Elementary and Lemoore High School. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from CSU Fresno and a Doctorate in K-12 Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California.
