The only local school board competition is on the Lemoore Union High School Board, where incumbent Lupe Solis, a longtime educator who served as a teacher, assistant principal, and assistant superintendent in Lemoore – while serving Lemoore High School – finds himself in an electoral faceoff with another former LHS teacher and former police officer, Tracy Landrus.
Longtime teacher and board member, Lois Hubanks, has earned another term on the board’s Area 1 District seat. She is running unopposed in Area 2, represented for several terms by Jeanne Castadio, who has declined to run for another time. On that note, candidate Melody A. Measell, a local businesswoman, stepped in as the only candidate in Area 2.
The period in which local candidates could run for office ran from July 18 through August 12.
In the Lemoore Elementary School District, a pair of incumbents, Jerry Waymire and Mark Pescatore, a Lemoore police officer, didn’t face any competition in this year’s school board race and were appointed. An Area 1 seat in the Lemoore Elementary District remains open, and board members are likely to appoint someone.
The declaration of candidacy began on July 18 and ended on August 12.
