Winners for the tournament included the following contestants: First Place went to Hastin Begaye and his grandmother, Phyllis Hunter, while Gavin Sr. and Eben Begaye earned second place. Third place went to Gaven Sr. and Eben Begaye. Fourth-place honors were handed to Bob Jeff and Quail Jeff.
In all, 13 teams of kids and adults battled for prizes.
The Slough Slingers Second Annual Tournament is scheduled for September 16th and is the West Coast’s most prominent and highest-paying tournament. The start time is 11:00 a.m., and it is $ 50 to enter.
Pitchers from Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Northern California will travel to Lemoore for this event. There will be food vendors, music, and a processional where slingers march in for the blessing in the tradition of the Tachi Yokuts people.
