It’s been sort of a trying year for Lemoore’s varsity boys’ soccer team as they sported a 1-14 recording going into Tuesday night’s matchup with cross-county rival Hanford. But the Tigers put it all together, played aggressively and easily dispatched the Bullpups 3-0 to win their second game and improve to 1-4 in the West Yosemite League.
The Tigers did indeed play with aggression in the first half, as they dominated the ball, spending much of the first half on the Bullpups’ side of the field.
The aggressive play paid off early when Lemoore’s Hunter Ford scored the first of his two goals at the 34-minute mark of the first half, taking in a pass and taking it alone against the Hanford goalie, slipping it past him on the right side for a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers kept pounding the ball at the Hanford net and scored again when Hunter again took a long pass, broke into the clear and raced down the middle of the field to score for a 2-0 Tiger advantage.
Lemoore wasn’t finished. At the 20 minute mark Missael Aguilar scored for a 3-0 lead that the Tigers took into the half.
The Tigers will take the short jaunt to Hanford for a Thursday night matchup with Hanford West.
