In Friday’s game in miserable wet conditions, the Tigers got first half goals from Lisette Brown and Kelley Mellott to hold off the Miners. Keelynn Kaalekahi provided the assist on Brown’s score.
The Tigers won despite the loss of Yavilex Ledezma who sat out the game with an injury and may be out for up to two weeks. Ledezma was injured in Wednesday’s loss to Mt. Whitney, a game Coach Janet Brown says her team should have won. The Tigers lost 2-1 to the Pioneers.
Brown says Ledezma was the victim off what she termed a malicious foul when a Pioneer player undercut her. Ledesma flew in the air and landed on her head. The Mt. Whitney player earned a yellow card. “It should have been a red card,” said Brown. “My girls remain positive,” she said.
In the Mt. Whitney contest Brown scored Lemoore’s only goal and the two teams went into the half tied at one goal apiece. The Pioneers scored at about the 20th minute in the second half on a corner kick. The Tigers had chances to tie the game, but just couldn’t get it in the goal.
