From West Hills College

West Hills Community College District will launch a new registration program this April that will allow students to register for all three semesters of the academic year at once. This new method, Reg365, is part of an ongoing effort to increase student success and retention.

“WHCCD makes a commitment to students for year-round registration so it takes the guessing out of educational planning,” said Sandy McGlothlin, vice president of student services at West Hills College Coalinga. “Instead of students looking at general areas of their degree requirements, they can actually choose the classes they will be enrolling in and secure that schedule for a year at a time. It will be critical for them to make progress so they stay on course with their plan.”

Reg365 will benefit students at WHCC, West Hills College Lemoore and the North District Center. It will especially benefit students who have an educational plan, which maps out every course required for graduation for each degree. Students will already know which classes they need to take for the entire time they are enrolled with the district, and the enrollment process just became easier.

“Students may only have to complete the registration process once a year if they're following their educational plan and making academic progress,” said McGlothlin.

Starting with the spring semester, West Hills College students can register for spring, summer and fall semesters all at once. Students will still be notified of their priority registration dates and will be given a timeline of when they can begin signing up for classes.

“Reg365 affords every student access to enroll in the necessary classes to fulfill their educational goals and we are here to support students every step of the way,” said Sylvia Dorsey-Robinson, vice president of student services at WHCL.

As in the past, students will need to pay or arrange financial aid for the summer and fall classes within 24 hours of registering. Classes for the spring 2015 semester will have a payment deadline of Nov. 1.

“The payment timing is designed to coincide with the previous registration system and will not change any fiscal impact to the students,” said Keith Stearns, associate vice chancellor of academic and information services/registrar.

Students will be able to view the 2014-2015 schedule online March 31. Open registration for the academic year will begin May 5.
