California Assemblymember Rudy Salas was on hand Thursday in Hanford to present a resolution to honor CHP Officer Dean Esquibel at a bridge sign dedication. Salas helped to designate the Cross Creek Bridge Highway 198 in honor of former California Highway Patrolman Dean Esquibel, who died in the line of duty at that site.

Lemoore High School students constructed the stand used to mount the sign during the dedication ceremony.

“Officer Dean Esquibel made the ultimate sacrifice while performing his sworn duty,” said Salas. “In recognition thereof, we pause to honor him, a fallen hero, by recalling his devotion, celebrating his life, and honoring his service with this appreciation.”

In recognition of Officer Esquibel’s devotion to duty, Assembly Concurrent Resolution No. 69, enacted as Resolution Chapter 143 of the Statues of 2013, designates the Cross Creek Bridge on State Route 198 in Kings County as the CHP Officer Dean Esquibel Memorial Bridge.

Officer Esquibel entered the CHP Patrol Academy in 1984 and upon graduation, wearing Badge No. 11289, he was assigned to the Hanford Area Office where he proudly served the Department.
