Vets Corner: Local VA office seeks student work study

The Kings County Veterans Service Office is currently looking to employ an additional VA Student Work Study. The program is open to anyone using the educational assistance programs administered by the VA, including the G.I. Bill.

The Work Study must be enrolled at least three-quarter time in a college degree, vocational, or professional program. The Work Study will be paid by the VA at an hourly rate equivalent to the state minimum wage. All wages paid to the Work Study under this program are tax free.

The Student Work Study will normally work in the Veterans Service Office at the Kings County Government Center in Hanford.  Work may consist of scheduling appointments for veterans and their families, entering data into computer systems, answering phone calls and assisting veterans in completing applications for benefits.

If you are interested in becoming a VA Student Work Study, please contact our office for an application and appointment for an interview. This is a great opportunity to assist veterans and gain in-depth knowledge of veteran’s benefits.
