A full house greeted the new President of the Kings Lions Club Saturday night at the Lemoore Senior Citizens Center. The Kings Lions, about to embark on their third year in existence, selected longtime Lion Ray Etchegoin as their new president. He replaces the outgoing Tom Wells.
About 100 Lions and guests were treated to barbecue steaks as they also watched the Lions award a few of their own, including Martin Perez, who earned the “Lion of the Year” award. Perez earned his award due to all the hard work he puts in during meetings and events.
The local service club also awarded the prestigious Ray Madrigal Scholarship – named after one of the founding members of the club – to local high school graduates Shriani Patel and Jazmine Rea, both of them plan to attend college this fall.
Past District Governor Betty Morris was on hand to swear in the new club president, Etchegoin, and praise the service performed by new Past President Wells.
Joining Etchegoin on the governing board are First Vice President Roman Benitez and Second Vice President William Munoz. Secretary Peggy Mello and Treasurer Devine Angellon-Vater were also sworn in as new officers. Other directors include Ray Madrigal, Alicia Ramirez, and Gina Arcino.
