Lots of laughs, swimming, and hot dogs were part of Lemoore’s efforts to show the citizens on by showing off “the blue” as the city and various other departments fielded two dozen law and city officials on Tuesday, Aug. 3 on National Night out.

The annual National Night Out, which has been observed in Lemoore for the past two decades in Lemoore, is observed on the first Tuesday in August and helps to raise community police awareness within the community.

For many years Lemoore has had an active Neighborhood Watch program. Most of the National Night Out events are sponsored by those local Neighborhood Watch areas.

According to a police department spokesperson, 14 officers, three Community Service Officers, four office personnel and four probation officers, two city council members, the city manager, three city staffers – and one chaplain (not needed for official duties) showed up at one or more of the 10 locations opened for the event.

Typical of what happened at most locations, the Alderwood Center complex near downtown had its share of fun and awareness as the resident kids, their parents and friends washed hot dogs and snacks down with pop and ice water.

The event was scheduled in at least 33 states with thousands of volunteers as police and residents laughed and ate hot dogs together.
