The Naval Air Station Lemoore commanding officer is making the rounds in Kings County, getting the word out about the local Navy installation. Captain Monty Ashliman, who spoke to the Lemoore Rotary Club on Tuesday, will hold a community briefing to review the mission and activities at the base he currently commands.

His latest briefing will be held Thursday evening, September 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Veterans Hall, next to the Hanford Civic Auditorium, 401 N. Irwin Street, Hanford.

The meeting is open to the public. Don't miss a chance to hear firsthand about the current and future plans at NAS Lemoore. The local Navy base has and will continue to have an impact on Kings County and its communities.

It’s well known that the Navy’s newest jet fighter, the F-35C will begin deploying to Lemoore early in 2017. Strike Fighter Squadron 101, the F-35 fleet replacement squadron, is expected to relocate to Lemoore in January 2017 from its current home at Eglin Air Force Base.

Topics to be covered by Ashliman will include an overview of the base, its history, its mission, data on service members, aircraft at the base, the economic impact on the region and other pertinent topics. Time will be given for questions. The presentation is estimated at less than an hour, including questions.
