It was Fleet Week in San Francisco, and of course the Navy’s Blue Angels’ flight demonstration team was on hand to thrill the throngs that lined the city’s shore. The Fleet Week Air Show was just one aspect of a week devoted to the U.S. Navy, held October 3-10.
The air show included the Blue Angels and a flyby of the Air Force’s F-22 Raptor, the Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 and from France, the Breitling Jet Team.
Thousands of visitors also climbed aboard amphibious carriers, destroyers and cruisers docked at the Embarcadero to get a glimpse into the day-to-day lives of sailors.
The photo gallery includes images taken by The Leader photographer Bill Burris, who was on hand for the colorful and inspiring event. Anyone interested in contacting Bill can do so by emailing him at Shooterbug@sbcglobal.net or call him at 559-904-1959.
