Lemoore officer arrests pair of gang members, one with stolen weapon

A Lemoore police officer, on July 31, at about 2:40 a.m., made a routine stop of a car with a bad brake light and ended up arresting a pair of known gang members, one of whom arrested for possession of a stolen weapon and the other for violation of probation.

Early Monday morning, the police officer patrolling East Cinnamon noticed a BMW traveling westbound with a bad brake light. He decided to make a routine traffic enforcement stop.

The driver of the vehicle, Larry Zuniga, of Hanford and the passenger, Benjamin Moreno, Hanford, are known Northerner gang members. Zuniga was on probation in Kings County.

The officer’s search located a .38 special revolver in Moreno’s waistband. The firearm was loaded and reported stolen out of Tulare.

Benjamin Moreno was arrested and booked into the Kings County Jail for violations of PC 25850(c)(2), PC 496(a), and PC 186.22(a). His bail was set at $110,000.

Zuniga was arrested and booked into the Kings County Jail for violating his terms of probation.
