Andrea Staples, a new physical therapist at Adventist Health Physical Therapy in Hanford, is caring for patients with a variety of conditions, including those who have suffered a stroke.
Staples has a personal experience with the condition. Her mother suffered a stroke after Staples graduated from high school.
“I wasn’t aware that there was a skill or career in specifically treating stroke patients through therapy, so this was something that definitely sparked my interested in the field,” says Staples.
So, she pursued a Doctor of Physical Therapy at California State University, Fresno, when her husband was assigned to Naval Air Station Lemoore. Since Adventist Health has a Physical Therapy office in Lemoore, she asked to complete her student rotation at the center.
“What I enjoy about Adventist Health is that the staff is genuinely concerned about the patients and getting them on the road to recovery,” she says. “It’s so rewarding to guide a patient who isn’t responding to therapy to where they need to be emotionally and physically.”
Staples may be reached at Physical Therapy in Hanford, 210 W. Lacey Blvd., at 559-537-2240.
