High school, college students get hands-on training from Adventist Health

The training is part of the eight-week Discover Healthcare Volunteer Program, which gives students the opportunity to speak to and learn from health care professionals in their area of interest.

Last year, students took part in hands-on training, which included a demonstration on how to swaddle a newborn, draw blood and use lift equipment to help prevent injuries when moving patients.

Students also learn resume building skills, become Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified and coordinate blood drives in Hanford, Selma and Reedley in July.

At the close of the program, the young volunteers will be celebrated during a graduation ceremony and receive a certificate of completion.
