Lemoore helped to celebrate the 36th year of National Night Out as approximately 200 persons converged on Heritage Park on a hot Tuesday night to celebrate local law enforcement and the volunteer fire department.
This year’s event at Heritage Park began at 5 p.m. The Kings Community Action Organization was on hand as were members of the California Highway Patrol. Kings County District Attorney Keith Fagundes was there as well.
The Kings Lions Club provided hot dogs and food while splash pads and games kept the evening busy.
National Night Out is a community and police awareness event customarily held nationwide on the first Tuesday in August and has been held annually since 1984. The event is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch in the U.S. and Canada.
The event is meant to increase awareness about police programs in communities like Lemoore. Lemoore has been involved with the program for well over 20 years.
