Long lines and waits didn’t seem to deter the thousands of air show enthusiasts from attending and enjoying the Naval Air Station Lemoore Air Show Saturday as attendees from throughout the Central Valley clogged the roads leading into and out of the Navy base operations area.
Despite the congestion, which apparently rankled some, airshow attendees seemed enthralled by the first airshow at NAS Lemoore since 2011. The featured attraction, of course, the legendary Blue Angels who took off in perfect formation about 2:45 p.m. on Saturday and were scheduled to fly again on Sunday afternoon.
Airshow attendees, while reveling in the Blue Angels show, had plenty from which to choose, including static displays of various aircraft and a litany of performing pilots and their aircraft throughout the show. Everything from bi-planes to the Navy’s newest jet fighter, the F-35 Lightning II.
Organizers of this year’s airshow expected 80,000 to 100,000 spectators for each day of the show. However, those attendees enjoyed relatively mild temperatures for the airshow.
