The Lemoore American Legion Post 100 and the City of Lemoore put on another grand parade Monday night on Lemoore’s downtown D Street. A standing-room-only crowd lined the downtown area as a flotilla of patriotic and civic organizations paraded down the picturesque street.
Kings County Supervisor Joe Neves was on hand to introduce a variety of floats, marching bands, and civic groups as they paraded down D Street, honoring the country’s veterans who have served their country.
According to Mitch Grundbrecher, one of the Legion’s coordinators along with its commander, Randy McCord, there were 36 groups or organizations that participated in this year’s event. “It takes at least nine months to put it together,” said Grundbrecher. “We get plenty of cooperation from the community.”
He added that the American Legion got tremendous support from the Lemoore Recreation Department, the Lemoore Police Department, and local service clubs.
Grundbrecher was very appreciative of those groups that took part in what was a near-perfect evening for a parade. “I want to thank everybody that participated in the parade with the floats and all the people who helped support the parade this year,” he said. “We appreciate it a whole bunch.”
This isn’t the American Legion’s first parade. They expect to do many more in the years to come.
