A pair of local charities are probably feeling blessed after receiving $5,000 checks each from Blattner Energy. Lemoore Christian Aid and God’s Bread Box, both located in Lemoore, were the recipients of Blattner Energy’s largess.

Blattner Energy is a solar power contractor based in Avon, Minnesota, and they currently have over 250 employees working at a site near Lemoore. The company has a history of giving “a little back” to local charities in communities where they work.

A few weeks ago, someone from Blattner visited Lemoore Christian Aid and God’s Breadbox with an offer of a donation. On Tuesday, the site’s manager, Brian Cooper, presented checks to the two local charities.

On Tuesday, Lemoore Christian Aid representatives Nick Francu and Karen Christiansen, and God’s Breadbox’s Valerie Phelps, joined Blattner’s site manager, Brian Cooper, at the local site to receive the checks.

“I was very surprised,” said LCA’s director, Nick Francu. “It caught me off guard, and it’s just really great to receive something like that. It’s nice to know that there are companies out there that care about communities. I thought that it was really neat that a company from Minnesota would come here and want to donate.”

Francu says LCA’s volunteers are committed to the organization’s purpose. Five to six volunteers work at the organization on a regular basis. “They’re all very hard-working, “ he said. “They are really appreciated.”

Blattner Energy focuses its efforts on renewable energy construction projects, while its sister corporation, D.H. Blattner & Sons, concentrates on solar construction services. The companies are currently working on a solar project near Lemoore.

Lemoore Christian Aid has been an integral part of the Lemoore area landscape since 1985. The non-profit agency is located at 224 N. Lemoore Avenue and provides relief to local families with clothing and food needs. The clothing comes from donations from the community, both private and commercial.

Lemoore Christian Aid is open Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lemoore Christian Aid can be contacted at 559-924-2229 or lca93245@att.net. The organization can also be reached through Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/LCAcommunity.

God’s Breadbox is located at 740 N. 19th Avenue is also a charitable organization, founded in 2011 to help meet the needs of hungry families in the Lemoore and Stratford areas. Like Lemoore Christian Aid, it is entirely staffed by volunteers.

Currently, God’s Breadbox is serving 200-250 families each month. Many of its clients are senior citizens living on small fixed incomes.

God’s Breadbox can be contacted at 997-6360 or emailed at nsgodsbreadbox@gmail.com.
