Assembly's Rudy Salas cites important funding for local Central Valley projects

“I am pleased to see over a million dollars of investment coming to the Valley that will reduce pollution and help our former foster youth find safe housing,” said Salas. “During these tough times, we must continue to support projects that will lift our community up.”

The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) announced $1,139,626 for 14 projects through their Healthy Soils Programs, which invests in agricultural projects that seek to improve soil health, capture carbon, and reduce pollution. 

The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) also announced $203,200 in funding for Kern County Department of Human Services and the Kings County Human Services Agency to promote housing stability for young adults who were formally in foster care or probation system through the Transitional Housing Program. 

Salas supported both Assembly Bill (AB) 74 and Senate Bill (SB) 80, which allocated this important funding to the Healthy Soils Program and the Transitional Housing Program.
